	University of Illinois Weed Science Field Days The annual weed science field day in Urbana will be June 25, with the tour beginning at 8:30 a.m. and concluding with lunch at noon. Cost is $15. A free twilight tour will also be held near DeKalb on July 9, with registration beginning at 5:00 p.m.
	Synopsis of Insects in Field Crops Current or potential insect problems are reviewed for corn, soybeans, wheat, and alfalfa.
	Update on Heat Unit Accumulations for Corn Rootworm Larval Hatch Hatch should be well underway through central Illinois; reports of hatch from northern Illinois are not anticipated until the end of the first week of June. Hatch in Indiana is anticipated in the next few days.
	Prime Time for Stalk Borers It is prime time for stalk borer larvae to be moving from small weed hosts into corn plants along field margins. Scouting is essential to determine whether management is necessary. Scouting and management tips are provided.
	Bean Pod Mottle Virus in Illinois Bean pod mottle virus, which appears to be the most common soybean virus in Illinois, has many producers concerned with its potential effects on crop quality and yield in 2003. Symptoms, vectors, diagnosis, and possible management tactics are outlined here.
	Estimating Nitrogen Loss Enhanced nitrogen loss potential is one of the consequences of more rain than normal. Instructions as well as precautions for four techniques for estimating or measuring nitrogen loss are presented.
	Regional Reports A report is provided this issue for northern Illinois.
